The third pack bundles the console with two controllers, PS4 Camera and a copy of Killzone Shadow Fall. At Amazon’s own prices these would cost £508 but are discounted here down to £449, a considerable saving of £59. However, to date Sony has done little to talk-up the capabilities, unlike Microsoft with the Kinect. We’re not yet aware of Killzone supporting the PS4 Camera in any game-specific ways, and it doesn’t have split-screen multiplayer, so your accessories will need other games to play with. In short, unless you’re really keen we’d give this larger pack a miss and simply buy more games.
The latest news regarding the PS4 is the announcement of a new PS Vita handheld console and PS Vita TV micro console. Both devices are capable of streaming games from your PS4 letting you play them practically anywhere.
The Standby Mode has other uses too, the console will now be able to charge the new DualShock 4 controller (via Micro USB) while powered-down – and will probably be able to charge your phone or tablet too, which is handy.
Set sail on the high seas in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, a pirate-filled adventure in the Assassin’s Creed saga. Become Edward Kenway, a charismatic yet brutal pirate captain, trained by Assassins. Command your ship, the Jackdaw, and strike fear in all who see her. Plunder and pillage to upgrade the Jackdaw with ammunition and equipment needed to fight off enemy ships as you venture out to discover the most diverse Assassin’s Creed world ever created.
We hope we’re wrong and that DRM issues will not be a big issue on the PS4, but gaming is swimming against the tide here and we’re pessimistic that it will soon follow the likes of Apple and Steam. Many are picturing Microsoft as the big bad and Sony as a knight in shining armour, but until we get some clear answers to our questions (Sony hasn’t been able to comment so far) we’ll be wary.
We got our own first look at the console recently and played some of the launch games that are still in development, read about it here in our PS4 review – hands on preview.
